Look at old OU material, with the organization's name in both English and Hebrew. The name on the can is (perhaps was) the OU's actual name, not an explanation.
The word chareidi used to mean the same as Orthodox. I don't know when Mod-O and Religious Zionists got disenfranchised from the word, but it was certainly after the OU's founding in 1898.
